Even among supposedly normal people, not all of us are equally able to learn from our experiences. But we do learn. The further the distance, though, between the point of decision making and the resulting consequences, the less likely we are to discern the underlying lesson. This distance is widened all the more by the intervention of a representative decision maker.
Thus direct democracy, unlike our representative one, would draw together as closely as politically possible the decision makers, the points of decision making, and the legislative results. Thus, the proposed system would optimize personal growth for those who are indeed capable of learning from their experiences and, with this, accelerate human progress.
