If you and your family were staking a claim to a beautiful homestead out West--with the intention of living a peaceful life as farmers--on land that a Native American tribe considered to be their traditional territory--must the tribe, in order to bar you from settling there, enforce a legal claim against you, or could they drive you away with threats and violence?
